Perhaps you may have missed it, being how we are way up in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, but the first big snowfall up here last Fall was followed by the biggest fire in Estes Park history.
We lost a major portion of our downtown business section.
The Copper Penny was almost devoured, but for the heroic men of our great Estes Park Volunteer Fire Department, along with engines from, Loveland, Longmont, and Fort Collins.
Since the fire in October last year, the clean-up and the rebuilding started, we got a new roof on our building just after Christmas, and through the winter we have rebuilt The Copper Penny.
This week, new merchandise is arriving daily, and the staff is getting ready for a grand re-opening in another couple of weeks. You can follow us on The Copper Blogg.
It is ironic that the Copper Penny celebrates its 60th Anniversary this year and here we are, starting all over again, with a brand new store, new merchandise, a few different people, but in the exact same location as 60 years ago!
For updated information on our re-opening, please read our latest feeds at:
